The surrounding area is primarily woodland and countryside, a few miles from the glorious beaches of the Moray Firth, which is renowned for its colony of seals at Findhorn Bay and dolphins at the Scottish Dolphin Centre.
The Moray area enjoys a particularly favourable climate as it benefits from the warmth of the Gulf Stream. Findhorn Bay is a popular sailing location, and offers water sports activities and is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts.
Willowbarn is just a few miles from the historical Royal Burgh of Forres, where you can enjoy its famous Grant Park with its award winning floral displays.
Forres is rich in local amenities, with a mix of traditional and modern shopping, and wonderful restaurants to meet all types of dining experience.
A few miles further to the south, is the stunning Cairngorms National Park, which boasts winter and summer activities for all the family.

Willowbarn self catering is ideally located for fishing enthusiasts for fishing on the river Findhorn or the Spey. For golfers it has a numerous range of golf courses in the nearby area including two championship golf courses in Nairn, The Nairn golf course and Nairn Dunbar. The nearby Forres golf course in its recent history has been honoured to host events such as the Scottish Professional Championship, the Northern Open, and the Scottish Young Professionals Championships – a testimony to it’s quality.
